"Do you think your fitness instructor should look fit? Does it make them more credible?” This question was posed to me by another fitness pro awhile ago, and one that I think about often. I suppose the answer is subjective. I know that from inside the skin of this barre instructor, it has always felt important to me that I “look the part”. Meaning, that I feel a responsibility to maintain the lean, strong, and well defined physique that is the hallmark of a regular barre practice. But from inside the skin of this barre instructor, that’s not how I felt. And it’s not how I looked. I knew my “barre body” was there, it had just disappeared underneath a nearly 25 lb weight gain I couldn’t seem to rid myself of. I tried various programs, juice cleanses, elimination diets, paleo, keto, you name it. I tracked my macros, I journaled, I took supplements. Nothing moved my weight more than 5 lbs. And I would get frustrated, and fall off, and start over. And over. And over. Maybe I’m just stuck here, I thought. Maybe this is just it. But that wasn’t it. I just needed a different approach. One that got me to really focus on my habits and behaviors, not just “eat this!” and “stay away from that!". One that got me to understand the emotional aspect of my eating. And of course, one that ensured proper nutrition, in a long term, sustainable way. This past May, I decided it was time to try AGAIN. I embarked on a journey to healthy living. My weight loss has been steady and consistent. I’ve returned to my own barre practice, in addition to my teaching, and I’m feeling more and more comfortable in my own skin again. I’m always my own test market first. But now I’m ready and eager to share, because I’ve found this program to be immediately effective, easy to follow, and “user friendly”. I’ve become certifed as a coach, and I want to help you reach your goals too - whatever they may be. You can do it. Ask me how🙌🏻!

a healthy outside starts from the inside

You've raised the barre on your fitness, how about your nutrition? As a certified barre fitness instructor, and orthopedic exercise specialist with over 10 years experience, I've learned one simple truth: You can't out exercise unhealthy habits of eating, and what you put in your body, ultimately shows on the outside.. Proven nutrition gets you where you want to go. After years of clients asking me questions about what to eat, and how to structure their own diets — I've decided to bring nutritional coaching within my scope of practice. And what better time, now that so many of us are spending more time in our own kitchens? To that end, I am currently pursuing my Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification. In doing so, I'll be able to take a more holistic approach in helping you to achieve your optimal health and wellness. 

I'll be sharing recipes, articles on the science of nutrition (for those who want to nerd out with me;), and hopefully some inspiration and motivation, here and on Shore Barre's social media pages.

I'm also very excited to provide coaching in the Habits of Health nutritional program, that I follow myself.
